Davis, Dorothy Mae
Dorothy Mae Davis, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Arrangements with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born July 8, 1923, in Victor, Iowa, the daughter of William and Esther (Veverka) Schlesselman. She married Gordon Davis in 1954. in Arkansas. Gordon passed away in 1967. Dorothy was a bookkeeper for Kaplan Wholesale in Minneapolis, Minn., from 1970 until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, the Democratic Party and the Genealogy Society.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Thelma Van Zele; several nieces; nephews; and stepchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents; and infant sister, Violet Schlesselman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House or to a charity of your choice.
