Iowa rolls to exhibition win
Nov. 3, 2013 3:49 pm
IOWA CITY --It was choppy and a bit ugly, as expected.
Iowa dominated Augustana (Ill.) 87-65 in an exhibition Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. But it was neither smooth, nor crisp, based in part because of new emphasis on old rules.
Iowa shot 50 free throws and the teams combined for 53 fouls. Iowa shot 50 free throws. Zach McCabe and Aaron White each scored 16 points for Iowa.
Here's the first-half report:
In a first half diluted by fouls and choppy offensive play, Iowa's men's basketball team took a 46-32 lead against Augustana (Ill.) in an exhibition at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa's Aaron White and Zach McCabe were in midseason form, however. They totaled for 22 points, with White scoring 12. White was 3-of-4 from the field and hit all six free-throw attempts. McCabe sank two shots, including Iowa's only 3-pointer, and hit 5 of 6 free throws. McCabe also leads all players with five rebounds.
Iowa is only 1 of 8 from the 3-point line, but is hitting 52 percent from the floor. Augustana has sank four 3-pointers.

Augustana's Danielius Jurgutis leads all scorers with 13 points. Iowa holds only a four-rebound edge and has outscored Augustana 20-8 in the paint.
