Kroupa, Wencil 'Pete'
Wencil “Pete” Kroupa, 74, of 2314 Teresa Dr. SW, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, in his home from a sudden illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial: Raetz Cemetery, Atkins.
Survivors include a son, John Kroupa and wife Cheryl of Denver, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Kim Kroupa of Arcadia; and four grandchildren, Kara, Andrew, Megan and Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; and son, Kevin Kroupa.
Pete was born July 22, 1935, in Bertram, Iowa, the son of Wencil and Rachel Hensley Kroupa. He married Linda Lee White on Sept. 20, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. Pete was maintenance supervisor for the City of Cedar Rapids, taking care of the streets year-round for 45 years. He was a true leader and mentor to the employees who worked with him. He was a member of the American Legion Hanford Post #5 and El'kahir Shrine.
Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Pete's family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
