Letter: Trump, a source of reason?

In the wake of another horrific shooting, that touched home with 'the Swamp” this week in D.C., President Donald Trump called for more unity from Americans. As Congressman Steve Scalise starts his recovery from the shooting, that left five injured, both sides wasted no time in pointing fingers. Republicans blamed a vitriolic left, while Democrats blamed easy access to firearms.
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, Congress, but it's another example of the lack of genuine concern and respect for both sides of the aisle trickling down to the masses. This 'Us vs. Them” mentality so permeates the political arena, that it is inevitable that the weak minded and fringe people decide to take it upon themselves to do something about it. This is not a gun problem, the weapons were purchased legally, as most are. Why can't one member of Congress stand up and say, 'That's enough!” Put a muzzle on Paul Ryan and Nancy Pelosi, and let's get back to doing what's good for America and not just what's good for Republicans or Democrats.
I'm afraid that until we return to the days where we all had common sense and common decency, these episodes of tragedy are destined to escalate. Your chickens have come home to roost, senators.
