A 51-year-old Marion man was arrested on extortion charges on Wednesday in Johnson County after authorities say he threatened to post nude photos of a 14-year-old female he was in contact with on the Internet.
Johnson County Sheriff reports indicate that Daniel J. Herrig, of 1281 Grand Avenue #1, met the 14-year-old female online and told her that he was a Marion High School Student.
Authorities say that Herrig allegedly convinced the female to send him nude photographs and threatened to post them on the Internet unless she would meet him in person.
Herrig was being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $10,000 bond on Sunday morning.
Extortion is a class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum $7,500 fine.
