Jun. 1, 2014 1:29 pm
Burglars used power tools while breaking into two Cedar Rapids businesses Saturday morning.
It happened around 5 a.m. Saturday at EduSkate Board Shop on Third Avenue SW.
According to the shop's owner, at least two burglars pried open the back door. Crooks then bashed open the cash register, but found only change inside.
Afterward, the suspects used a saw and their feet to break through a wall and burglarize Mystic Tat2, next door.
The tattoo shop's owner, David Smith, said thieves broke a vending machine and pool table to get the cash inside, leaving a big mess behind.
'They ruined a $4,000 vending machine. The pool table is $2,500, plus the hole in the wall. I don't know what it's going to cost to fix that. Then, the loss of cash,” Smith said.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating the case. Officials said anyone with information can contact officers at (319) 286-5491.
