LINCOLN, Neb. - Not much rattles Iowa senior point guard Samantha Logic.
She helped prove that last night as No. 13 Iowa beat No. 20 Nebraska, 69-61,
With the shot clock ticking down and Iowa clinging to a 1-point lead on the road, Logic put up a 3-pointer with 2:49 to play.
'I was just hoping it hit something, to be honest,” Logic said. 'The clock was running down. They were doing a good job on ball screens. I just threw one up.”
It wasn't quite the dagger when it went in, but it definitely hit something vital.
'That was huge,” Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder said. 'She leads us. She is the heart and soul of this basketball team. The 3 she hit was clutch.”
It was the first win for Iowa (20-4, 11-2 Big Ten) in Lincoln since 2005. It is only the third time Nebraska (17-7, 7-6) had lost in Pinnacle bank Arena, which opened last season.
'There have only been three losses in this building in two years, so we're extremely happy to get out of here with a win,” Bluder said.
And before this season, Iowa had been 0-9 against the Huskers since they joined the Big Ten. Suddenly, the Hawkeyes own a season sweep.
'We kind of wanted to turn it around, how we play against Nebraska,”
Logic finished with nine points, 10 assists and six rebounds in an all-around effort.
Bethany Doolittle, who battle foul trouble in the first half, finished with 12 points, and Ally Disterhoft added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Kali Peschel came off the bench to score 13 points in 16 minutes.
'Kali came in and did a great job,” Bluder said.
