Fry Jr., Arlo 'Wayne'
Arlo “Wayne” Fry Jr., 63, of Washington, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Friday, April 2, 2010, following a lengthy illness. Memorial services, with military honors, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, with the Rev. John McKinstry officiating. The family will greet friends after 10 a.m. Tuesday. A luncheon will follow in the Kirkwood Room.
Wayne was born Aug. 3, 1946, in Fort Myers, Fla., the son of Arlo and Kathleen (Schillig) Fry Sr. He was a graduate of City High School, Iowa City. Wayne served proudly with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War, and was a medic in Desert Storm and with the Iowa National Guard. On May 3, 1972, he married Vicki Ruegsegger in Quincy, Ill. Wayne, Vicki and family had lived in Iowa County for many years, moving to Washington in 2004. He liked to fish and listen to music, especially Buddy Holly.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Vicki, and their two daughters, Charlotte and Nicole Fry, all of Washington; three siblings, Allen Fry of North Liberty, Marjorie (Caz) Kotowski of Thornton, Colo., and Arlene Johnston of Iowa City; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
