Iowa basketball fans deserve better

To be clear I was not a fan of Coach Fran McCaffery after the first couple of seasons. His current team has mostly young players, but so do other schools. His always complaining has to wear thin for his players. He always looks mad about something. I am aware of several of his players and they are good people.

Besides his demeanor, I think he has recruited poorly by having an abundance of frontcourt players. The ball movement in the half court is poor and the defense is spotty if at all. Playing defense is hard work and no real fun. Players play offense for themselves and defense for the coach. There is a serious disconnect somewhere.

The loyal fans of Iowa basketball deserve better.
