Wilkinson, Margaret R. 'Peg'
Margaret R. “Peg” Wilkinson, 81, of Marion, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at her home following a short illness. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Eagle Ridge Community Center, 1285 Red Fox Way, Marion. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Jordan's Grove Cemetery, rural Central City. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include three daughters, Sue Wilkinson of Cedar Rapids, Carol (John) Callahan of Bernard, and Karen (Rich) Mayzel of Upton, Mass.; four grandchildren, Ty (Julie) Petsche, Jim Petsche, and Casey and Ally Mayzel; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Megan, Zachary and Ryan Petsche; a sister, Bette Engebretson, Sun City, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Mae McGuire of Cedar Rapids, Millie Wilkinson and Evelyn Wilkinson, both of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William and Jim McGuire; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a nephew.
Peg was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Ruth (Easterly) McGuire. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy in 1947. On Sept. 11, 1947, Peg was united in marriage to David Wilkinson in Cedar Rapids. He died Jan. 13, 2009.
A memorial fund has been established in Peg's name.
