Kirkwood Community College will move ahead with two construction projects after the board of trustees approved bids last week.
The Kirkwood board approved a $2.4 million bid from Woodruff Construction of Fort Dodge for an Iowa Hall remodeling project. The Woodruff bid was the lowest of seven bids on that project, which will renovate the old culinary program kitchen into a kitchen for student dining and include mechanical work and upgrades to the building temperature control system. The total cost of the Iowa Hall renovation is estimated at $4 million.
The board also approved the bid of $311,000 by Horsfield Construction of Epworth, the lowest of eight bidders on a project to build a traffic roundabout at a busy campus intersection. The roundabout will be built at the intersection of Kirkwood's main entrance road and Training Drive.
