Without life nothing can be experienced

To the editor:
On Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court Justices, all of whom had the 'right to life,” legalized abortion, thus denying this right to more than 50 million babies to date.
Pope John Paul II was correct when he said: 'A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope.” Just imagine how different everything would be today if Mary had not been pro-life the first Christmas more than 2,000 years ago. Without life nothing can be experienced, not even the two most important things to the majority of Americans today, namely sports and entitlements.
Some people are pro-life, some are pro-choice, and some claim to be both, while others are silent about the 'American Holocaust.” Those who claim to be for and against argue: 'Personally, I oppose abortion, but I defend a women's right to choose.” (Choose what?) That's like having said in the 1860s: 'I oppose slavery, but owning a slave is a personal choice.” Some members of religious orders, both men and women, are in the silent inactive group. Ironically, they proclaim to be the champions of 'social justice.”
Before he died in the 'German Holocaust,” Dietrich Bonhoeffer said this about silence and non-action: 'Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”
One day, each of us may be standing alone before the judgment seat of God and be asked: 'Did you heed My words in the Gospel according to Matthew 19:14, ‘allow the children to come to Me, and do not prevent them?'” What will our answer be?
