Letter: Do not ban the traffic cameras
Ed Fischer
Jan. 6, 2017 12:00 am
Gary Hughes cites several shortcomings of the current use of traffic cameras ('It's time to ban traffic cameras,” Dec. 29).
None of the shortcomings, however, are reasons to ban the cameras. Rather, we should fix the shortcomings.
Our highways are public places open to everyone and everyone who uses the highways should drive responsibly.
Traffic cameras are an effective and safe means of enforcing lawful driving. We need to enhance the cameras for the public good, not ban them.
