Batchelor, Audrey Campbell
Audrey Campbell Batchelor, 95, a resident of Keystone Cedars, died there Sunday, April 14, 2013, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Emory Gillespie will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum Columbarium. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements,
Survivors include a grandson, Chad Ehret; a granddaughter, Lindsey Ehret; and a dear friend, Pat Carstensen, all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy; a daughter, Cynthia Ehert; and a brother, Robert Campbell.
Audrey was born June 25, 1917, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Evans) Campbell. She graduated from the last class at old Washington High School in 1935 and later from Coe College in 1939 where she was a volunteer math tutor. Audrey married Alexander “Sandy” Batchelor on Sept. 4, 1939, in Cedar Rapids. Sandy passed away in 2004.
Audrey was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Kappa Delta sorority, and volunteered at Mercy Hospital for over 45 years. She proudly served as a Wave in the Navy during World War II, and was a staunch Republican who volunteered at the polls for over 40 years.
She enjoyed traveling, swimming, embroidering and was an avid bridge player.
Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
