As cold as it was outside, it might have been colder inside for the Iowa Hawkeyes Wednesday night as they fell to Northwestern 90-71 . Iowa was outscored 48-27 in the first half after Northwestern poured down 3 pointer after 3 pointer, 7 straight to start the game. Northwestern(11-4, 2-3 Big Ten) was led by Drew Crawford with 19 points and and Michael Thompson with 17 respectively. Bryce Cartwright and Matt Gatens were the bright spots for Iowa scoring 25 and 20 points as well, but the early 24-4 run by the Wildcats proved to be too large of a deficit. Iowa(7-9, 0-4 Big Ten) surrendered its first loss to Northwestern in Iowa City since 2004. Iowa plays in Carver Hawkeye Arena next on January 23rd when they host the Indiana Hoosiers.
