Medical marijuana has health, fiscal benefits
Aug. 14, 2009 7:56 am
Legalizing medical marijuana is just the boost our local economy needs. Marijuana is a drug with a lot of potential, both medicinally and economically.
New research shows marijuana can possibly prevent Alzheimer's disease, reduce tumor growth in lung cancer, help stop breast cancer from spreading and assist in food intake for HIV/AIDS patients. Marijuana users typically end up hungry and happy, two qualities that are great for people who are suffering and in pain.
Iowa would benefit greatly from the legalization of medical marijuana because not only would it help the sick and suffering but it would also help Iowa's suffering economy. The legalization of medical marijuana in Iowa would allow the local government to establish laws and taxes, which could then be funneled back into local programs that would benefit everyone.
