Iowa’s Uthoff tabbed to preseason all-Big Ten team

IOWA CITY - Iowa forward Jarrod Uthoff was one of 10 players named to the preaseason all-Big Ten team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Uthoff, a 6-foot-9 senior from Cedar Rapids, averaged 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.6 blocked shots a game last year in helping the Hawkeyes reach the NCAA tournament's third round. He was the nation's only player with more than 55 blocks, 50 3-pointers and 35 steals.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble was named the league's preseason player of the year. He was joined on the preseason all-conference team by Uthoff, Maryland forward Jake Layman, Indiana guards Yogi Ferrell and James Blackmon Jr., Michigan guard Caris LeVert, Michigan State guard Denzel Valentine, Purdue center A.J. Hammons, Wisconsin guard Bronson Koenig and forward Nigel Hayes.
