Letter: Government needs to stop interfering

The GOP that believes in small government, reducing government spending and getting the government out of our lives has started their work.
They want to spend money on fixing Iowa's voter system that doesn't need fixing. I have been voting for almost 50 years. I needed ID to get registered (and people still do). Every year my name showed on the voting forms at my precinct where I signed that I was who I said I was (no one has ever signed my name before I showed up) and we have a paper ballot to go back to if there is any problem counting the votes. Leave it alone.
Unions have not had to be recertified for decades, why start now? This is an attempt to interfere in a system that works and doesn't need government intervention.
Defund Planned Parenthood, even though the vast majority of Iowans supports this organization.
If you believe in small government and reasonable spending and taxation, fund our schools so our children get better educations and make this a better world for all of us. Help the citizens pay their medical bills for themselves and their children. Provide a support system for those among us who are not able to care for themselves because they are paid $5 an hour or can't work. Do good. Do not interfere in the lives of people who have no effect on your life.
