Agri Star to add 150 workers in Postville

Agri Star Meat and Poultry LLC in Postville plans to hire some 150 workers in the next four to six weeks as it expands its turkey lines and adds a beef line.

The company said Friday that it will hire roughly 50 workers in the coming weeks to expand production of turkey products in Postville. It will hire over 100 in the next four to six weeks as it restores its beef line to production.

Agri Star is the new company formed to buy the assets of the former Agriprocessors company in Postville out of bankruptcy about six months ago. It is a leading supplier of kosher meats.

“There has been a tremendous void in the kosher food market,” CEO Hershey Friedman said.
