Firefighters called to Cedar Rapids post office
Firefighters are inside the U.S. Post Office at 1380 60th St. NE. The building has been evacuated. There are no signs of a fire from the outside of the building.
Battalion Chief George Bockenstedt confirmed that firefighters are investigating a burning odor, but there is no active fire inside the post office. Customers are not being allowed inside at the moment.
“They don't know where it's coming from quite yet,” Bockenstedt said.
Bockenstedt said a couple firefighters had gone on the roof to check ventilation equipment.
