The University of Northern Iowa has received a $2 million grant to create a new center for educational research and development, university officials announced this week.
The grant is from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.
The new Center for Educational Transformation will help UNI provide statewide and national leadership in educational research and development, officials said in a statement. The money will support faculty and student research.
The Center for Educational Transformation will be housed on the UNI campus and will start this summer, with a mission to "transform education in Iowa and the nation through collaborative research, dynamic practice, policy advocacy and sustainable innovation," officials said in the statement.
Goals for the center revolve around four areas: research, practice, policy and innovation, officials said.
