A Drake University student had a portion of his right middle finger bitten off during a bar fight in Des Moines this morning.
Police were dispatched to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines around 3 a.m. today and met with Andrew Brooks, 22, of Kansas City, Mo., who claimed that he was involved in a fight with a man at the Dublin Bar at approximately 1:30 a.m.
He told police that during the fight inside the bar, the suspect bit off a portion of his middle finger.
Brooks would not tell police any information about the suspect who assaulted him. Police did speak with a witness and got a basic description of the suspect -- a white male in his 20s, 6 feet tall and about 185 pounds, shirtless and wearing blue jeans.
Brooks' finger was not recovered, police said.
