Two people were arrested for prostitution early Wednesday morning in Cedar Rapids after one of them called police.
Around 6:30 a.m., officers went to 517 Seventh St. SE, Apt. A, when Donald C. Bradley, 60, reported that a woman was in his unit and armed with a knife. When police arrived, they found the front door open, and when they went inside, they could hear a man and a woman arguing.
Upon interviewing Bradley and the woman, Valerie V. Rounds, 26, of 1563 Bever Ave. SE, No. 3, they learned that Bradley had hired Rounds to perform oral sex on him in exchange for $20, according to the police report.
“After that had transpired, he claimed she had taken (a credit card) from him, and he pulled a knife on her,” Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.
Bradley later admitted to threatening Rounds with a large kitchen knife, according to police. No one was injured. Both also confessed to the prostitution, Hamblin said.
Bradley and Rounds were arrested on suspicion of prostitution, and Bradley earned an additional charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
Police took them to the Linn County Jail. By Wednesday afternoon, Rounds was still in jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bond, and Bradley was no longer in custody.
