As I write this, it has been one year since the assault on my cousin, Cedar Rapids Police Officer Tim Davis. I would be remiss not to recognize a few individuals who haven't yet been publicly singled out and deserve to be.
l The creator, volunteers, and supporters of the SupportOfficerDavis Web site, which provided a way for the family to receive well-wishes, post updates and keep the community aware of upcoming fundraisers and events.
l Officer Ben Engle of the Toledo Iowa Police Department for creating Tim's Facebook support page, allowing more than 25,000 people to follow Tim's progress, express their thoughts and network. Ben also was very proactive in bringing T-shirt designs to the family and making himself available to assist us.
l Todd Parman of PerMar Security was the first to establish an account for donations for Tim. His ability to spread the word among other security companies and law enforcement agencies helped drum up much needed financial support.
l Mark Geary of KCRG-TV9, whose care and concern were authentic and his coverage impeccable. He is an example of not only a consummate reporter, but a wonderful and caring man. I am sure I tested his patience with all my many e-mails and phone calls, but he was such a great source of strength, guidance and kindness.
