UPDATE: Two men were charged with disorderly conduct after shots were fired during a disturbance Tuesday in southeast Cedar Rapids.
James O. Harrison, 20, of 440 N. 18th Ave., Hiawatha, and Lamonte D. Dickens, 21, of 200 Ann St. SW, “admitted that they engaged in fighting or violent behavior with others in the 1600 block of Fourth Avenue SE which led to another suspect discharging a weapon,” according to the complaint filed this morning in Linn County District Court.
A report of a disturbance and gunshots brought officers to the area about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. They found there had been a fight between “a number of people” at 1624 Fourth Ave. SE, according to the police report. One of three men leaving the scene fire several shots from a small handgun as they were leaving the scene in a vehicle.
A male juvenile was taken to Mercy Medical Center with a minor injury suffered in the fight. He was released after treatment.
Besides Harrison and Dickens, a 16-year-old from Cedar Rapids was also arrested. The police investigation is continuing.
Harrison and Dickens were released after their court appearances this morning.
