LIVE FROM KINNICK STADIUM: Mike Hlas with constant updates from Ohio State-Iowa
Mike Hlas Nov. 20, 2010 12:59 pm
Wrapping it up for this take. Need to focus on column-writing with this game potentially going to last a while and make time short later. I'll have my column from this game posted here around 9 p.m.
OSU begins the 2nd half with a methodical 77-yard TD drive to take a 10-7 lead. No play went longer than 14 yards, and just two were for more than 9. Pryor was very heady on that drive, and OSU's blockers won the battle on that possession.

Here's a lovely pregame photo:
The ovation for Dan Gable at halftime is considerable.
Iowa is trying to play its way into the Capital One Bowl, though we all know that isn't the motivation today.

OSU 4th drive: Starts at OSU 22 with 3:38 and two timeouts left. OSU drove to Iowa 43, then Pryor threw a pick in the end zone. Tipped by Prater, gloved on the carom by Micah Hyde. Prater leveled Buckeye receiver Corey Brown on a bomb earlier in the drive.
Iowa 4th drive: Paul Chaney with his biggest catch in eons, a juggling 17-yarder on 3rd-and-4. ... Chaney gets interfered for another first-down. Iowa stalls at OSU 22, then Mike Meyer misses 40-yd field goal.
OSU3rd drive. Started at own 21, 3-and-out. Defenses both seem to be settling in.
Iowa's 3rd drive: Drive starts at Iowa 32. 3-and-out. Some good hitting and coverage by OSU.
Such an efficient drive until OSU got to the Iowa 3.
OSU's 2nd drive: Kickoff return to OS 41 ... Passes of 16 and 26 yards from Pryor to Sanzenbacher, a 10-yard run for Herron, and Iowa calls time with a second-and-goal at the 3 ... 4th-and-goal at the 1, OSU calls time then elects to kick an 18-yard FIELD GOAL. Iowa 7-3, 11:34 in half.
Iowa's 2nd drive. 3rd-and-13 turns into a first down on a 15-yd pass-and-catch to DJK to the Iowa 25. ... First-downs on next three plays, a pass to Coker, a Coker run, and pass-interference on a bomb to DJK. ... Stanzi-to-McNutt for 19 yards and a TOUCHDOWN with 1:05 left in the first. Iowa 7-0 on an 87-yard drive.
Nine minutes and 20 seconds gone, feeling out on both sides, no serious scoring opportunity for either on its possession.
OSU got one first-down, then bogged down partly due to two illegal-motion penalties on OT J.B. Shugarts, but Pryor-to-Sanzenbacher for 21 yds on 3rd-and-17. ... But Buckeyes had to punt on subsequent series of downs.
Iowa had two first-downs, punted to OSU 16 on first possession.

This isn't the best video, but here's Ricky Stanzi's Senior Day intro and meeting with his parents at midfield before the game:
