Police are warning residents of a string of recent burglaries in the northeast part of Cedar Rapids, near Daniels Park.
Police say neighbors have witnessed unfamiliar people carrying televisions under blankets, and not reporting it.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department is asking citizens to help their neighbors and police by calling when seeing suspicious activity.
Police are also reminding residents t0 not leave valuables visible inside vehicles. The Police Department typically sees an increase in vehicle break-ins this time of year. Purses, electronics and gift packages are favorite targets. A lot of these thefts happen in large parking lots near shopping centers, apartment complexes and movie theaters.
Take the extra time to place valuables in the trunk or out of sight. It only takes a thief a few seconds to break a window and get away with your property. A final reminder: Report suspicious activities immediately; secure your homes and vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.
