A 26-year-old Illinois man convicted of stalking in Iowa has pleaded guilty to mailing a threatening letter to his attorney.
In a plea deal, Daniel Samuel Jason of the Chicago suburb of Buffalo Grove, Ill., admitted that he mailed a letter depicting a female stick figure next to a gun with "RIP" written nearby.
The attorney he admitted mailing the letter to, Dawn Wilson of Cedar Rapids, was representing Jason in a Johnson County stalking case.
Jason was convicted Thursday of one count of mailing a threatening communication.
He's in the custody of U.S. Marshals pending sentencing and couldn't be reached for comment on Friday.
Jason faces up to 27 months in prison, up to $250,000 in fines and three years of supervised release following imprisonment.
