Dredge low rivers and save sand for winter
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Many rivers are at their lowest levels. These rivers should be dredged now with the sand removed and stockpiled for our Iowa roads this winter. The clean-out would provide a clear pathway that would allow for water to flow through quickly, thus, eliminating the potential for many nearby homes to get flooded.
This procedure would save our state money by not having to purchase sand for the winter roadways, and it would provide employment for many workers. This is a win-win suggestion. Let's get with it. Winter will certainly be here before we know it.
