Cindy Hadish
Oct. 24, 2010 1:31 pm
Emy Sautter of Prairiewoods is hosting a green cleaning party at their center in Hiawatha on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010.
Among the materials she is presenting is a list of the top five chemical removing house plants. Scientists at the University of Georgia in Athens placed plants in gas-tight glass jars, exposing them to benzene, octane, toluene and alpha-pinene.
These are the plants best suited for eliminating those toxins:
Purple waffle plant (hemigraphis alternata)
English ivy (hedera helix)
Waxy leaved plant (hoya carnosa)
Asparagus fern (asparagus densiflorus)
Purple heart plant (tradescantia pallida)
