WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The president of the Iowa-based Hy-Vee grocery store chain has been named chairman and CEO.
The company says its board of directors on Thursday elected 49-year-old Randy Edeker to succeed Ric Jurgens, who's retiring on June 1 after 43 years.
Edeker is a 30-year veteran of the West Des Moines-based Hy-Vee. He started his career as a part-time worker in Chariton. He managed a store in Columbus, Neb., before moving to the corporate office in 1995.
Edeker, who was named Hy-Vee's president in 2009, is the company's fourth chairman and CEO in its 82-year history.
Hy-Vee operates 235 stores in eight Midwestern states.
