Clean Water Act must be restored

Clean water is essential for healthy communities, wildlife and tourism and recreation economies in Iowa. Restoring the Clean Water Act will keep toxic pollution out of the rivers, lakes, streams and wetlands that provide drinking water, jobs, transportation, flood protection, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.

The Obama administration is moving forward with a rule that would protect waterways, such as the Des Moines River, by restoring the Clean Water Act. But, major polluters and their allies in Congress want to stop these protections so they can continue polluting at the public's expense. I am urging Obama and his administration to stand strong against these powerful big-money special interests and to move forward with policies that restore our Clean Water Act protections and prevent our critical rivers, lakes, and streams from being treated like industrial waste dumps and made into landfills.
