City leaders in Fort Dodge say they're considering using cameras and radars to catch motorists who speed and run red lights.
The Messenger in Fort Dodge reports that police chief Tim Carmody told the City Council on Monday he is interested in putting a similar system into a vehicle that could be moved around the city where there are speeding complaints. The system could be used to generate traffic tickets.
A company that has supplied red light cameras in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Muscatine gave a presentation at Monday's City Council meeting. The council didn't schedule additional action on the idea.
