City council should consider economic well-being of citizens
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Once again City Council members have shown their true colors. They continue to tax and tax whenever they see the opportunity. A 1 percent tax for flood recovery was not enough. Now they want to extend the tax and they are raising residential property taxes 8 percent.
How can we continue to take these people seriously when they do not take the wishes and economic well-being of the people of Cedar Rapids seriously? They continue to prove that they are not good stewards with the city's finances.
We badly need a law that allows the recall of any elected official who fails to perform their duties for the good of the people. The city council should be grateful that we no longer live in a society where tar and feathers were the norm for unfaithful office holders.
