Republicans displaying communist mentality

In the Sept. 13 letter “Where are the godless communists now?” the author said there are “godless communists” among Democrats because some of them booed adding God into the Democratic platform. This author is confused.
First, Democratic delegates booed not God, but the point about the united Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Second, communists were not as godless as the author thinks. In my native Poland, lots of them went to confession at least once a year (discretely, to be sure) and sent their children to catechism classes.
But most important is the communists' conviction that their ideology was the only correct one and provided solutions to all problems. So, they would either deny the existence of the problems for which their ideology offered no solutions, or they would use slogans provided by their ideology as magical formulas in order to solve some problems. And they considered those who deviated from that ideology as traitors and heretics.
All of this describes many Republicans. They don't believe in global warming because the expansion of individual consumption cannot solve problems it poses. They try to enchant all problems by repeating the mantras of low taxes and small government. And they decided that Justice John Roberts is a traitor because he ruled ObamaCare is constitutional.
Granted: Republicans are not godless. Rather they have created God in their own image. So, if you are looking for the communist mentality - think about today's Republicans.
