Kernels lose at Clinton, 8-5
CLINTON - Mitch Garver's two-run home run in the top of the first inning was the highlight of Monday night for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, whop dropped a 8-5 decision to the Clinton LumberKings at Ashford University Field.
C.R.'s win streak was snapped at five. The Kernels have Tuesday off before beginning a three-game series Wednesday night at Lake County.
Kernels starting pitcher Ryan Eades continued his season-long struggles, giving up seven hits an seven runs, four earned, in four innings.
He took the loss, with his record dropping to 5-10. His earned average is 6.67.
Logan Wade's two-run single in the seventh pulled Cedar Rapids within 8-5, but that was as close as the Kernels could get.
