Two hurt when car hits unmarked Linn County squad car
Two people were taken to hospitals after a car rear-ended an unmarked squad car belonging to the Linn County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.
Col. John Stuelke, 48, was stopped on Lewis Access Road and preparing to turn west onto Rosedale Drive when his squad car was struck from behind by a car driven by Samantha Stark, 19, of Center Point, the sheriff's office said.
Stuelke was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and Stark was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.
The accident is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
