Truck hits Iowa City pedestrian

A pedestrian was struck by a truck around 8:40 a.m. today at the intersection of Madison and Burlington streets in Iowa City, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, comfirmed Iowa City Police Officer Becki Sammons. The accident site, in front of the new University of Iowa Recreation & Wellness Center, is at a busy intersection on the southwest edge of downtown Iowa City.
No other information was available, pending an investigation, Sammons said.
