Sara was born Feb. 28, 1956, in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Claire and Kathryn (Hulse) Stewart. She completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at Indiana University and a Master's in Medical Record Administration at Emory University.
Sara married Mark Votroubek and together they made their home in the Cedar Rapids area where they started a family with two sons, Brent and Spencer. Later, Sara was remarried to Larry Crain, also in Cedar Rapids.
Sara spent six years of her adult career as director of Human Resources for Iowa Health Physicians and eight years as vice president of Human Resources for the Iowa Health System. Sara was very devoted to her career and loved the people that she worked with.

Among her many possessions the two most important things in her life were her sons, Brent and Spencer. She loved watching them grow up, traveling together and celebrating the important things in life.
