Action should be taken to reverse national debt
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 19, 2011 8:06 am
The Democratic-controlled 111th Congress (2009-10) recklessly plunged our nation into a huge additional deficit of $3.76 trillion during this two-year period. This made our current national debt about $14 trillion, which is $44,866 for every person in this country.
President Obama and liberal Democrats are putting our nation in dire unsustainable debt which history teaches us is disastrous for a nation. When the integrity and value of our currency is degraded by enormous debt and the printing of more money, the danger of rapid inflation becomes a socialistic trend toward more and more government control of the economy, resulting in loss of freedom and the eventual bondage of a dictatorship. Study what happened to Germany in the 1920s and '30s and you will see the parallel position we are in at this time.
Unless we take drastic action to reverse this debt burden and get our government responsible to put our financial house in order, we face a grim future.
So pray for our nation and vote for accountable, responsible, courageous, representatives and senators and a president who will turn us back to moral and sensible values so we will survive as a free and blessed nation.
