Cedar Rapids man drowns in Snake River

ALPINE, Wyoming - A Cedar Rapids man drowned Thursday afternoon after he was thrown from a raft in the Snake River Canyon.
Jim Sawyer, 76, was part of a group, organized by a commercial whitewater rafting company rafting on the Snake River when his raft overturned and he apparently drowned, the Lincoln County sheriff's office said.
Officials said an Alpine search and rescue team dispatched about 4:30 p.m., after Sawyer had apparently drowned.
