Make helmets for bikers mandatory

The time has come and gone for helmet law naysayers to deny reality. Helmets save lives. Studies show that enforcing mandatory helmet rules result in fewer motorcyclist fatalities. Many road hazards can pose a danger to biker's safety and even the most experienced riders can put themselves in danger any time they are out on Iowa's roads. But the most preventable injury for a motorcyclist is brain trauma.
Today, Iowa is one of only three states in the nation that has no helmet law. That statistic is one that will cost more lives on Iowa's roads next summer. This fall when your legislators knock on your door and ask for your vote, tell them, 'Stop the debate. It's time for a helmet law in Iowa.”
