CEDAR RAPIDS - Police said a baseball bat, knife and crowbar were used in a fight between two men that left both of them hospitalized with serious injuries.
Officers found two men injured when they responded about 12:10 a.m. Monday to a report of a fight in a driveway in the 2100 block of Blairs Ferry Road NE. Police said Matthew Marook, 21, of Cedar Rapids, and Jeremy Connor, 17, address unknown, fought over a girl that had been dating one and was now dating the other.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said both men suffered primarily head injuries and were taken away by ambulance as they went in and out of consciousness. Both were taken to St. Luke's Hospital, and Connor was later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Police found the bat, knife and crowbar, but were still determining who used which weapon during the fight. No charges have been filed,
