Alexander: Honorable mention AP All-American

IOWA CITY -- University of Iowa junior Kachine Alexander was named an honorable mention all-American by the Associated Press Tuesday.
Alexander was one of 46 NCAA Division I women's basketball student-athletes to earn Associated Press all-America honors.
She is also one of 40 finalists for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association all-America Team, which will be announced at the Final Four on Saturday.
Alexander is only the third Hawkeye to be honored by the Associated Press. Amy Herrig (1999) and Cara Consuegra (2001) were also Associated Press honorable mention picks.
She led the Hawkeyes with 16 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest. The Minneapolis native claimed the Big Ten rebounding title, averaging 11.1 boards per game in league games. She is one of only two guards in the country to average a double-double, and ranks 22
Alexander finished the season with 15 double-doubles, which was one shy of tying the school record for single-season double-doubles held by Amy Herrig. She became Iowa's all-time leading rebounder among juniors this season, and finished with 281 boards.
