Lisa Beames now has a contract to be the Anamosa Community School District's new superintendent.
The school board approved Beames' agreement, which takes effect July 1, during a regular meeting Monday.
The two-year contract gives Beames, who will replace departing current Superintendent Brian Ney, a $125,000 starting salary through June 30, 2014. The board has discretion to maintain or increase Beames' pay for the second year of the agreement.
The board approved her hiring at a Feb. 25 special meeting.
Beames, who is currently superintendent of the Keosauqua, Iowa-based Van Buren Community School District, will also serve as the Anamosa district's curriculum director. Beames, who was one of two candidates for the position, wrote a letter to the school board indicating that she would like to explore possibly creating a separate curriculum director position for the district in the future.
Ney, who was hired on an interim basis, has not yet disclosed whether he will retire or seek other employment opportunities.
