Landon, Gloria C.
Gloria C. Landon, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away June 9, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Chris Landon of Whitehouse, Texas; a son, Wes Landon and wife Pam of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Tom Landon of Walker, Kevin Landon of Merrimack, N.H., and Sara Landon of Denver, Colo.; her great-grandchildren, Skyler, McKenna and Trevin Landon; her brother, Lawrence Basten of Waterloo; her sister-in-law, Wilma Landon of Lancaster, Wis.; and her cousins, Raymond Anderson of Hiawatha and Darlene Welsh of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Landon in 1987; and a grandson, Steven Landon in 1980.
Gloria was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Oelwein, the daughter of Peter J. and Lorena (Klinger) Basten. She was united in marriage to Frederick W. Landon on Aug. 29, 1943. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She worked for many years as a pharmacist at various pharmacies throughout the Cedar Rapids area.
She was a 50-year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and Naomi Circle of Kings Daughters.
Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gloria's honor may be directed to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
