Injuries were not a problem for cornerback Shaun Prater in his Iowa football career.
Prater played in 48 games over the previous four seasons, made 171 tackles, and intercepted seven passes. He was a first-team All-Big Ten player in the coaches' voting.
Prater was a fifth-round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals in April. But four months later, it appears he will be on the shelf until next season.
NFL.com reported Prater will be placed on injured reserve with a knee injury and will be out for the season.
It's a tough deal, but it doesn't have to be the end of the road. According to the NFL report, Prater is expected to be back in time for the Bengals' offseason conditioning program.
