McLaud, Fredrick John

Fredrick John McLaud, 62, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness. A Celebration of Life will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, with a special sharing of memories at 6 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his mother, Paula McLaud; common law wife, Pam Denny; four daughters, Shawn McLaud, Teresa McLaud, Kristi McLaud and Torie Shimmin; sister, Rose Douglas; six grandchildren, Jade, Shanell, Kamar, Aria, Aalyah and Arianna; a great-grandson, Leo; many nieces and nephews, including special niece and nephew, Danelle and Chad McLaud; his dogs, Logan and Hercules; and many relatives and friends.

Fred was born July 26, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Fredrick Edward and Paula (Arenas) McLaud. He was a truck driver most of his life, but most recently worked as a grain inspector at Cargill. Fred enjoyed NASCAR and riding his Harley.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Wayne McLaud.
