PHYLLIS PLUNGE

Phyllis Edna (Burtraw) Plunge, 81, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
Born Jan. 2, 1933, in Lansing, Mich., to Merrit and Hazel Burtraw, she lived in Harvey, Ill.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Des Moines, before settling in Cedar Rapids. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker while pursuing a secretarial career with
various employment agencies. Phyllis was an active volunteer in her church and community. She had a passion for gardening and the environment.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Michele of Pleasanton, Calif.; and son, Charles of Cedar Rapids.
Her death was preceded by her husband, Algerd (2005) after nearly 50 years of marriage.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, 2424 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lovely Lane Church or the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC).
