Wallace "Wally" F. Pinckney, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at North-brook Manor, Cedar Rapids. A visitation celebrating Wally's life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Cedar Me-morial Park Funeral Home. A private family graveside will be held
in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; children, Bill (Dionne) Pinckney of Cedar Rapids, John (Carol) Pinckney of Muncie, Ind., and Anne (Gary) Althoff
of Marion; grandchildren, Kara Reiber, Blake
(Naomi) Pinckney, Jordan (Aubree) Pinckney, Adam Pinckney, Mariah Althoff, Elliott Althoff and Jason Duplaga; great-grandchildren, Johnathan and Lilly Reiber; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joann Redel.
Wallace Franklin Pinckney was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Edward and Lila (Wesner) Pinckney. He served in the First Air Wing of the First Marine Division during World War II. He graduated from Coe College in 1949 and married Jeanne Ferguson on Aug. 6, 1949, in
Cedar Rapids.
Wally was a produce broker from 1950 to 1983. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, was an avid golfer where he won the Cedar Rapids Men's and Senior City Amateur and the 1986 Father/Daughter State Golf Tournament. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
